Is it really cordless?

Yes. It runs on a built-in 700 mAh rechargeable battery: about 4 hours of light per charge and about 1.5 hours to recharge with the USB cable included. Place it anywhere, no socket needed.

How do I change the colors?

Tap the top of the dome or use the remote. You can pick one of 12 colors or switch on the RGB mode, where the colors flow slowly into each other.

Does it need assembly?

Just a minute and no tools: push the tentacles into the dome, place the rod in the base and set the dome on top. The instructions are in the box.
